FinConecta co-hosted a FinTech event in Cairo, Egypt on July 9th and 10th, marking the company’s official launch in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

The Embracing FinTech event held in Cairo, Egypt on July 9th and 10th marked the beginning of a new chapter for FinConecta. As FinConecta aims to build an interconnected global ecosystem, the company has been expanding its geographic reach beyond Latin America & the Caribbean and Africa.

The Embracing FinTech event, sponsored by the Dutch Development Bank (FMO), the SANAD Fund for MSME’s Technical Assistance Facility, Sanabel and FinConecta, brought together senior management executives from 16 financial institutions in Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Lebanon and Sudan looking for support on how to digitize and innovate their businesses. The two day program was designed to provide the necessary tools for financial institutions to discover their path to digital transformation and embark on their digitization journey.

On the first day, the content was centered around building knowledge and setting the stage. Industry experts and thought leaders spoke to the audience about FinTech Trends, the Future of Finance, FinTech Regulation and Digital Transformation Fundamentals. There was also a FinTech Collaboration panel discussion where banks, FinTechs and other important players shared their experiences and perspectives on building partnerships.

The second and last day of the event focused on guiding participating financial institutions on how to build their digital transformation strategy through a practical hand-ons approach. All the sessions on day two were facilitated by the FinConecta team and included: an Open Banking Masterclass by CTO Mauricio Lorenzetti, Digital Banking Case Studies by CFO Martijn van Rooij, Digital Transformation Readiness Assessment by Head of Strategy Karina Gibson, and last but not least creating a Digital Transformation Action Plan with CEO Jorge Ruiz.

The highlight of the event was ACELERA, FinConecta’s digital transformation game that left the audience in awe. On day two, FinConecta’s Head of Digital Transformation Academy Helena Herrero Event led a guided session where event participants played ACELERA in teams. Participants were encouraged to apply strategic thinking, explore different digital strategies, discuss organizational dilemmas and test investment decisions related to digital transformation in a fun, interactive game.

The successful event set the stage for FinConecta’s new presence in the region, opening endless opportunities to continue and expand our mission to innovate and connect the financial sector on a global scale.
